Abstract
The big problem of electrical system happened in the distribution territory
(transmision & distribution). Among the many problems that occur, storm is the
one of the causes. Indonesia is on the equator line which the tropical wheather
and the high humiditycausesthe high strike density of the storm. Overhead
powerline networking of PT. PLN (Persero) which is offenly had the storm
problem is KBL 09 feeder especially in the zone 3. The problemsof the protection
system towards the lightning disturbances of KBL 09 feeder zone 3 need to be
analyzedso the reliable protection system will be better, economically and
efficient. Based on the arrester measurement result, arresters’specification that
used in the field are 18 kV and 5 kA. Hopefully the arrester can minimize the
induction stroke interruption. From the result of the simulation using ATP Draw,
arrester can reduce the high voltage strike quickly in the distance of 200-300 m in
1,2-5 ms. From the simulationcan be concluded that the closer arrester to tools
the attenuation will be betterwhile time interruption towards high voltage caused
by lightning strike will beshortly.
