Abstract

This research aims to improve beginning reading skills through the reading guide picture book game method in group B of Kindergarten Al Ikhlas Majenang Cilacap. This research is classroom action research carried out in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. The subjects in this research were 19 children from group B1 of Kindergarten Al Ikhlas, consisting of 12 boys and 12 girls. The data collection methods in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. The problem solving steps in research consist of four stages of activities, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. analysis of the data used in the study from
19 children, there were 19 children, there were 7 children (36.8%) who were not yet developing (MB), 6 children (32%) who were developing according to expectations (BSH), and 6 children (32%) and very well developed (BSB). In Cycle I, out of 19 children, 4 children were starting to develop (21%), 8 children (42%) were developing according to expectations. 7 children (37%) developed very well (BSB). In Cycle II there were 19 children, 3 children (15.8%) were starting to develop, 8 children (42%) were developing as expected, and 8 children (42%) were developing very well (BSB). In other words, there was an increase in initial reading ability in the initial study by 63.%, Cycle I 79% and Cycle II 84%.
