Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement in fine motor skills in children through shapeformation
activities using natural materials. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR).
The subjects in this study were Group B Children and the Teacher of SPS Kemuning, Cikadu Village.
This research is collaborative between Researchers and Classroom Teachers. Data collection
methods used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique
used was qualitative descriptive. The results of this study indicate an improvement in children's
fine motor skills through paper folding activities. This can be seen from the percentage of the
results of children's fine motor skills at the initial condition, where only 46.67% had developed
their fine motor skills, while 53.33% of children had not developed them. In cycle I, it increased to
66.67% of children who had developed their fine motor skills, and 33.33% of children had not
developed. In cycle II, there was a significant increase, with 86.67% of children having developed
their fine motor skills, and only 13.33% of children not developed their fine motor skills. This is
because they did not want to engage in shape formation activities using natural materials to the
fullest and tended to play alone when engaged in such activities.
