Abstract
The research title is "Enhancing Language Proficiency through Modified Traditional
Snake and Ladder Game at TK (Kindergaten) Aisyiyah 01 Majenang in the Academic Year
2023/2024." The study was motivated by the observation that students in B1 group lack
language proficiency. The evidence was in their ability to express opinions, particularly in
responding to the teacher's questions, and their lack of confidence when storytelling in
front of the class. Based on this background, the researcher conducted this classroom
action research focusing on improving students' language proficiency. Thus, this research
aimed to determine whether the modified traditional snake and ladder game can enhance
language proficiency among students in the B1 group, second semester, at TK Aisyiyah 01
Majenang, Cilacap Regency: the research methodology involved two cycles, each
comprising four meetings. The research subjects comprised 20 students, 10 boys and 10
girls, from TK Aisyiyah 01 Majenang. Data collection methods used in this research
included observation and documentation, with assistance from fellow teachers and the
Head of TK Aisyiyah 01 Majenang. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive
comparative analysis techniques. The results of the data analysis indicated a clear
improvement in language proficiency among the students. It was proven by the journal
results from the initial study, Cycle I, and Cycle Il of these 20 students as follows: 5
students, or 25%, Beginning Development (BD), 3 students, or 15%, Developing as
Expected (DE), and 2 students or 10% Well Developed (WD). Cycle 1: No students
remained in the Beginning Development category, 8 students or 40% Beginning
Development (BD), 3 students or 15% Developing as Expected (DE), and 9 students or
45% Developed Very Well (DVW). Cycle II: No students remained in the Beginning
Development category, 4 students or 20% Beginning Development (BD), 13 students or
65% Developed as Expected (DE).
