Fine motor development involves movements that engage small muscles or specific
body parts influenced by situations for learning and practice. The fine motor
coordination of four-year-old children still needs proper stimulation through
activities such as drawing, cutting, and stringing (a traditional Indonesian handicraft
technique). This study employs a classroom action research approach. The
researcher implemented two cycles in this research, comprising three meetings in
each cycle. The research subjects were Group A, consisting of 15 children (9 girls
and 6 boys). The data collection was conducted through observation, interviews,
and documentation techniques. The fine motor development of Group A using the
bead stringing method was considered successful if more than 75% of the children
met the criteria with excellent results. The research showed that bead stringing
could enhance fine motor development in early childhood. Before the intervention,
47% of the children showed initial fine motor development during the pre-cycle
phase. After Cycle I, fine motor skills improved to 67%, and in Cycle II, with
excellent criteria, it reached 87%.
