This research aims to describe the ability to write job application letters for class
XII students at MAN 1 Banjarnegara, in terms of letter content, letter elements,
sentence writing, spelling and writing system. This type of research is quantitative
descriptive. The research was carried out at MAN 1 Banjarnegara in July-August
2023. The data in this research is primary in the form of job application letters
written by class XII students at MAN 1 Banjarnegara TP 2022/2023. The
population of this research is class XII students at MAN 1 Banjarnegara for the
2022/2023 academic year. Samples were taken from students of class XII IPS 1
MAN 1 Banjarnegara. The data collection method uses test techniques with
written tests. To assess and analyze the ability to write job application letters in
this study, a rubric for assessing the ability to write application letters was used.
The research results show that the ability of class XII IPS 1 MAN 1 Banjarnegara
students in writing job application letters tends to be moderate. From the 30
students of class XII IPS 1 MAN 1 Banjarnegara, there are only 9 students (30%)
whose abilities are in the high category, while the other 21 students (70%) whose
abilities are in the medium category. From the aspect of assessing the 20
indicators of ability in job application letters used in this research, there are 18
indicators or 90% which are included in the sufficient category. So the assessment
results on 20 indicators are dominated by the medium category. So it is clear that
the ability of class XII IPS 1 MAN 1 Banjarnegara students in writing job
application letters is not optimal, so it needs to be improved.
