human scalp. Increased growth of this fungus can be caused by hot and humid air
conditions, such as Indonesia which has a tropical climate. The flavonoid
compound in kaffir lime leaves can inhibit fungal growth. The purpose of this study
was to determine the effectiveness of kaffir lime leaf ethanol extract after being
formulated into a cream and the results of its physical evaluation. Methods:
Extraction was done by maceration method using 96% ethanol. The extract was
made into a cream preparation and then tested for physical evaluation of
homogeneity, organoleptics, pH, viscosity, adhesion, and spreadability. Antifungal
activity testing was carried out using the agar well diffusion method. Results:
Antifungal tests carried out produced inhibition zones in F1 (10 mm), F2 (9 mm),
F3 (13.6 mm). the resulting inhibition zone is included in the weak active category.
The evaluation test of cream showed good physical evaluation results. Conclusion:
Kaffir leaf ethanol extract that has been formulated into a cream is able to inhibit
the growth of Malassezia furfur and has good physical evaluation results.
