Abstract
Daffa Ihsan Pramudya. 2024: Adele’s View Of Love Portrayed In Her Song Lyrics. Undergraduate Thesis for Sarjana Sastra Degree, English Department, Faculty of Sciences and Communication, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. This research aims to explore the female, especialy Adele perspective on love encapsulated in various song lyrics. It specifically delves into three song samples from the celebrated British singer, Adele, seeking to dissect and analyze her portrayal of love. The research aims to understand Adele's view of of love through a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing theories such as Kinds of love, Intrinsic element of song lyric, and Genetic Structuralism by Lucien Goldman. The data from this study took three Adele song lyrics related to the research discussion. The findings obtained in this study reveal that there are two types of love that match the cases that occur in the three song lyrics analyzed, namely love mania and pragma. The love mania type appears in two songs entitled "Chasing Pavements", it is found that the dependence on love makes Adele indecisive in deciding whether she should give up or continue the relationship, and in "Someone Like You" it is found that the dependence on love makes Adele unable to move on which makes her very heartbroken. The pragma type of love appears in only one song, namely "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)", it is found that Adele wants a commitment in a romantic relationship, but unfortunately she gets a partner who is not in line with what she wants.
