The research objective of this article is to describe the implementation of online learning through WA groups in class IX J of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Cilacap. At the beginning of the spread of the Covid 19 virus, the learning process at school used online learning. When delivering short story material to students, the teacher creates a WhatsApp group for teaching and learning activities (KBM). The teacher made a Power Point and PDF format of the Indonesian language package book, then the teacher sent the Power Point and PDF of the Indonesian language package book material for chapter 3 of this short story text to the class IX J WhatsApp group to be downloaded and read and then understood by class IX J students. Muhammadiyah 1 Middle School Cilacap. The teacher starts the discussion by asking students via the WhatsApp group with a question sentence. The research method used by researchers is the Quantitative Method. reasons researchers use quantitative research methods. The researcher in conducting this research was based on the research objective, namely to describe the implementation of online learning through the WA group in class IX J of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Cilacap. In addition to describing the researcher, he has prepared a questionnaire to determine the influence of online learning via WhatsApp groups on the short story writing ability of class IX J SMP students.
