Abstract
Student perception is how students interpret various information acquired after participating in learning activities. Student perception can affect learning outcomes, as it enables students to comprehend instructional material, thereby affecting their academic performance. Learning outcomes refer to the results obtained by students after undergoing learning evaluation. Based on the cognitive learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Kroya in the academic year 2022/2023, some students scored below the minimum passing grade in daily assessments, particularly in the drama subject. This research examined the correlations between perception and learning outcomes in drama for eighth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Kroya in the academic year 2022/2023. This study employed a quantitative descriptive research design. The research subjects comprised 55 eighth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Kroya in the 2022/2023 academic year. Data collection techniques included closed-ended questionnaires and documentation. The Pearson product-moment correlation test was employed at a significance level of 5% to assess student perceptions. The research findings indicated that student perception and learning outcomes fell into the high category. The calculated correlation coefficient between student perception and learning outcomes in drama was 0.117, which was classified as very weak. The correlation calculation between perception and learning outcomes yielded a calculated correlation coefficient (r) of 0.857663. This value was then compared with the critical value (r-table) of 0.266, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected because the calculated correlation coefficient was more significant than the critical value (0.857663 0.266). Therefore, it can be drawn that there is a correlation between student perception and learning outcomes in drama for eighth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Kroya in the academic year 2022/2023.
