Abstract

This research aims to identify the learning difficulties experienced by
students in the geography subject through online learning systems in Senior High
Schools (SMA) in Purbalingga Regency during the pandemic. Employing a
descriptive research design with a quantitative approach, the study utilized a
sample of 160 students from Grade XII Social Sciences. The sampling technique
involved purposive sampling and Cluster Sampling. The research instrument
comprised a questionnaire on online learning difficulties consisting of 41 valid and
reliable items. The questionnaire covered indicators related to technical
constraints affecting signal reception and students' inability in online learning,
obstacles in the online learning process for geography subjects with sub-indicators
for interaction, assignments, and teaching media. Additionally, indicators
regarding family attention and support during online learning were included. Data
collection methods included questionnaires, interviews, observations, and
documentation. The research findings indicate that students' learning difficulties in
geography subjects through online learning systems in SMA Purbalingga Regency
during the pandemic fall within the high category, with a percentage score of 78%.
