Abstract

This research aims to describe the language style of personification found in the anthology of poetry “Makna yang Ditinggalkan” by Indonesian Language and Literature Education FKIP UMP Batch of 2020 students. This was qualitative descriptive research. The data consisted of quotations of poems containing personification in the “Makna yang Ditinggalkan” anthology of poetry by Indonesian Language and Literature Education FKIP UMP Batch of 2020 students, with a total of 41 data quotations of poetry containing the language style of personification. The data collection technique used not-taking, while the data analysis technique used condensing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions about the figurative language of personification present in the “Makna yang Ditinggalkan” anthology of poetry by students of Indonesian Language and Literature Education FKIP UMP Batch of 2020. The results of this research show that there are 41 quotations of poems containing personification, including words like “embracing,” “conscience,” “complaining.” “caring,” “winking,” “complaint,” “swallowed,” “working,” “unwilling,” “silencing,” “listening,” “speaking,” “chasing,” “laughing,” “cheering,” “allying,” “greeting,” “silencing,” “helping,” “caressing,” “witness,” “promising,” “denying,” “guiding,” “spelling,” “dragging,” “pity,” “carrying,” “pointing,” “looking,” “perfect posture,” “approaching,” “pouncing,” “leaning,” “tired,” “witness,” “singing,” “greeting,” “embracing,” “whispering,” “crying,” “smiling,” and grumbling.”
