Globalization has brought negative changes including acts of radicalism in the name of Islam that has drawn a lot of criticism and condemnation in the community. Therefore, to ward off radicalism it is necessary to form a good juvenile character. Character formation can be done by internalizing and externalizing islamic religious education values through learning activities and activities outside the school. The purpose of this study is to find out whether or not the influence of internalization and externalization of Islamic religious education values in shaping the character of students to ward off radicalism in Madrasah Aliyah on Banjar City.
This research is a quantitative research, a data collection technique by spreading questionnaires (questionnaires). Samples are taken using proportional random sampling techniques. Namely by taking 100 students from 8 Madrasah Aliyah in Banjar City according to their respective proportions. After the data is collected, analysis is carried out using a Structural Equation Model (SEM) based on Partial Least Square (PLS).
The results showed that the internalization of Islamic religious education values had an influence on student character by 35.2% and externalization of Islamic religious education values had an influence of 48.9%. Internalization of Islamic religious education values has an influence on radicalism by 35.7% and externalization of Islamic religious education values has an influence of 33.6%. The internalization influence of Islamic religious education values on radicalism through character formation was 45.4%. The externalization influence of Islamic religious education values on radicalism through character formation by 42.2%.
