Abstract

Background: A stroke is defined as a non-traumatic disruption of cerebral blood flow that appears suddenly, gradually, and rapidly. The selection and use of drugs should be rational, so that treatment can achieve maximum therapy with minimal side effects. Method: this study used a descriptive method with a retrospective research design. The study sample was 135 patients, including 110 ischemic stroke patients and 25 hemorrhagic stroke patients. Results: most stroke cases occurred in the female sex 54.08%, stroke cases were mostly encountered by patients aged <60 years $1.85%. Hypertension is the most common comorbidity suffered by 82.22%. The pattern of drug use based on evaluation, the class of cerebral activators and vasodilators is right indication of 100%, right patient by 100%, right drug by 100%, right dose by 98.52%, right route by 100%. Nootropic and neurotropic groups are exactly 100% indications, right patient 100%, right drug 100%, right dose 100%, right route 100%. The antiplatelet group is exactly 100% indicative, the right patient is 81.97%, the right drug, the right dose and the right route is 100%. Antifibrinolytic class, right indication, right patient, right drug, right dose, and right route by 100%. Conclusion: The pattern of drug use of stroke patients is mostly in the therapeutic class of cerebral activators and vasodilators, namely citicolin and mecobalamin from the class of nootropic and neurotropic therapy. The use of drugs in stroke patients can be said to be not fully rational because there are still some who have not met the criteria for the right dose and right patient.
