This research aims to describe the functions of fatis utterances and politeness strategies based on fatis utterances used by speakers and interlocutors in the Kick Andy talk show edition of November 2022 on the MetroTV YouTube channel. This qualitative descriptive study consisted of speech from the hosts and guests of the Kick Andy talk show edition of November 2022 that contains instances of fat talk. The data source is the Kick Andy talk show edition of November 2022. The method and techniques involved three stages: (1) data collection using observation with techniques such as observation nonparticipatory and note-taking, (2) data analysis using an extra lingual matching method and mark reading technique, and (3) presentation of analysis results using the informal method. The research findings comprise 14 categories of functions of fatis utterances out of 15 categorized fat functions and politeness strategies used. The functions include (1) greeting, (2) politeness, (3) disappointment, (4) expression of gratitude, (5) joking, (6) praising, (7) apologizing, (8) avoidance, (9) rejection, (10) disagreement, (11) farewell, (12) command, (13) assertion, and (14) reminder. No instances of fatis utterances related to offering function were found in this study. The identified politeness strategies were based on positive and negative politeness strategies, while bald-on-record and off-record politeness strategies were not found.
