Abstract
Learning media serves as a means of delivering information to achieve educational goals. Inappropriate learning media can lower the quality of education itself. Conversely, to ensure a high-quality learning process, teachers need to create effective learning experiences, and one way to achieve this is through the use of instructional media. The aim of this research is to reveal the utilization, the impact on learning outcomes, as well as challenges and efforts in using animated scene reenactment videos. This research was conducted from January to February 2023 using a qualitative descriptive research method. Data collection techniques included observation, document analysis, interviews, and questionnaires with 7A grade students at SMP PGRI Purwareja Klampok.
The research findings revealed that the 7A grade class at SMP PGRI Purwareja Klampok had not previously used animated scene reenactment videos in their Social Studies (IPS) learning for Hindu-Buddhist history. This new learning experience attracted students' interest. The learning outcomes for students also improved compared to using other instructional media. The obtained student scores reached an average of 84.5, with a difference of 8.1 from the highest average score of the history subject at 76.4. Most of the challenges faced in implementing animated scene reenactment videos were directly addressed by the Social Studies teacher.
