Abstract
Education is a conscious effort made to achieve a goal. Education development
needs to be directed to accelerate quality. Academic supervision is one of the
efforts to improve the quality of learning in the classroom. Current academic
supervision has been carried out but has not run optimally, teachers are
uncomfortable when carrying out supervision by the school principal. The
independent curriculum introduces academic supervision techniques using
coaching. The aims of this study are 1) to describe academic coaching
supervision activities to improve the quality of SDN Cilacap 07. 2) to analyze
the implementation of academic coaching supervision to improve the quality of
SDN Cilacap 07. 3) To find out the advantages and disadvantages of
implementing academic coaching supervision to improve the quality of SDN
Cilacap 07.
The type of research used by researchers is a phenomenological study. The
research was carried out at the Cilacap 07 State Elementary School. The data
collection techniques used in this qualitative phenomenological study were
interviews, observation, and documentation studies.
The results of this study are that the implementation of academic coaching
supervision consists of several stages, namely planning, pre-observation,
implementation and post-supervision. In the beginning, the implementation of
academic coaching supervision activities, the teachers felt tense, some felt
afraid. After the pre-observation the teachers prepared well. They become
motivated and able to see solutions, if there are deficiencies in the
implementation of learning from the process of exploring through questions
during coaching. The advantages of supervising academic coaching to improve
school quality are that the atmosphere is not stressful, it is able to explore
teacher competence, the atmosphere is more comfortable, it increases
understanding of pro-student learning, and it is able to improve and improve the
teaching and learning process in class. There are no flaws in execution. Only at
the beginning of the socialization and planning activities did the teacher still
feel tense because they were not yet familiar with the techniques used.
