This study aims to analyze the managerial competence possessed by school
principals and teacher performance in improving the quality of education in
elementary schools. Preliminary observations indicate that elementary school
principals in the Gatot Soebroto Cluster, Nusawungu District, Cilacap Regency
have different managerial competencies, weak teacher performance and different
educational quality. The method used by researchers in this study is a qualitative
method with this type of research is a phenomenological study. The subjects used
by researchers for this study were five elementary school principals in Nusawungu
District, Cilacap Regency. Techniques for data collection were carried out by means
of interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The activities carried out in
analyzing the data include reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions.
The results of the study show that the managerial competence of elementary school
principals in the Gatot Soebroto Cluster, Nusawungu District, Cilacap Regency is
already good in the planning aspect (planning), organization (organizing) and
supervision (controlling). Managerial competence of elementary school principals
in the Gatot Soebroto Group, Nusawungu District, Cilacap Regency on the
implementing aspect(actuating) still needs improvement. The performance of
elementary school teachers in the Gatot Soebroto Cluster, Nusawungu District,
Cilacap Regency in the aspects of planning learning, implementing learning and
evaluating learning has been good. The performance of elementary school teachers
in the Gatot Soebroto Cluster, Nusawungu District, Cilacap Regency in the followup
aspect still needs improvement. The managerial competence of school principals
on the performance of elementary school teachers in the Gatot Soebroto Cluster,
Nusawungu District, Cilacap Regency shows that there is a link between the
managerial competence of school principals and teacher performance and quality
of education.
