The skin of tamarillo is a waste from the processing of tamarillo fruit,
has a very attractive red color and contains several kinds of antioxidants,
namely phenols, .flavonoids and anthocyanins which are able to capture
radical substances or free radicals. This study aims to determine the activity
of free radical scavenging against DPPH (1,1-defenil-2-pikrilhidrazil) and
whether the ethanol extract of tamarillo skin can be formulated into a peel-off
gel mask. The ethanol extract of tamarillo skin was prepared using the
maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. Antioxidant activity testing
was carried out using the DPPH method. The ethanol extract of tamarillo
skin is formulated into a gel peel-off mask with a concentration of 10%, 15%
and 20%. The results showed that the peel off gel mask of ethanol extract of
tamarillo skin with a concentration of 10%.15% and 20% had an IC value of
20.763 ppm; 13.602 ppm; 12,096 ppm and is classified as a very strong
antioxidant.
