Abstract

Background: Appropriate treatment of preeclampsia is termination of pregnancy, when the gestational age is above 37 weeks of induction of labor can be used as a curative treatment of preeclampsia. Labor induction is an action for pregnant women who are not yet in labor, to stimulate uterine contractions so that labor occurs. The use of induction of labor often fails, thus increasing the action caesarean section and side effects of induction drugs that harm the mother and fetus. Therefore it is necessary to evaluate the rationality of the use of labor induction drugs in order to obtain drug therapy that is safe, effective and in accordance with clinical needs and reduce the risk of caesarean section. Method: This research is a non-experimental research with a descriptive observational research design. Retrospective data collection with the research data source used is the patient's medical record. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with the number of samples used being 82. Analysis of the results is presented in table form and percentages. Results: The pattern of use of labor induction drugs found Oxytocin in 63 (76.82%) patients, Misoprostol (Cytotec®) in 19 (23.17%) patients. Rationality of drug use obtained results for the right indication 82 (100%) patients, right patient 74 (90,25%) of patients, right drug 82 (100%) patients, right dose 82 (100%) patients, and right route of administration 82 (100%) patients. Conclusion: The effectiveness of the use of labor induction drugs in 82 (100%) patients with preeclampsia, where the patient was declared cured, the baby was born alive, no side effects were found from the drug and the delivery was successful vaginally.
