Abstract

Background: In Indonesia, Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is still a problem that requires more attention, if there is no good and proper control it will result in death, especially in childrens who do not have a strong immune system. The high prevalence of ARI and its impact causes high consumption of over-the-counter drugs and the use of antibiotics. However, there is a possibility that there is a treatment that has been done inappropriately or the occurrence of Drug Related Problems (DRPs). This study aims to determine the pattern of drug use and evaluate Drug Related Problems (DRPs) of antibiotic use in pediatric patients with ARI at Banjarnegara Health Center 1 for the February-March 2023 period. Method: The method used in this study is categorized as observational research (non-experimental) with prospective data collection and carried out through recording medical records and interviews with patients' families. Results: The results of the study of 39 cases of pediatric patients who met the inclusion criteria showed the incidence of DRPs category Overdose (35.89%), Underdose (97.43%), Drug without indication (2.56%), Adherence (74.35%). Conclusion: The pattern of drug use in pediatric patients with ARI at Puskesmas Banjarnegara 1 is to use first-line therapy, namely using amoxicillin antibiotics accompanied by supporting therapy to overcome the symptoms patients feel and there were DRP with overdose drug category as many as 14 patients (35.89%), underdose as many as 38 patients (97.43%), therapy without indication as many as 1 patient (2.56%), indications without therapy (0%), inappropriate drugs (0%), drug interactions (0%), drug side effects (0%) and adherence as many as 29 patients (74.35%).
