Abstract

Spices are plants or parts of plants that contain aromatics are used in foods with the main function as flavor givers. The process of planting and distribution can affect lead metal in spices. This study aims to determine the content of lead metal contamination (Pb) in qualitative and quantitative material. The study was conducted using the method of wet destruction by adding concentrated HNO3 and aspirated to Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer with a wavelength of 283.3 nm. The samples used were ginger rhizome, kencur rhizome, turmeric rhizome, and galangal rhizome used in traditional markets in Purwokerto City. The results of the validation of the analysis method for the linearity test obtained a linear regression equation y = 0.024x - 0.0047 and a r value of 0.9915, with the results of the detection limit test (LOD) of 0.3987 ppm and the threshold (LOQ) of 1.3291 ppm. The precision test obtained the Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) value of 0.0006. The recovery value for turmeric samples by 90.08 %, galangal samples by 83.97 %, kencur samples by 90.15 %, and ginger samples by 83.83 %.
