Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the types of feedback used by teachers in
EFL Class and revealing the teachers' reason for using indirect feedback in EFL
Class. This research used an analytical descriptive study. The sample of this
research were 6 English Teachers in SMP Negeri 1 Padamara, SMA Negeri 1
Padamara, and SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Karangpucung Cilacap. The researcher
used a questionnaire and interview as the instruments for collecting the data. In
this research, the researcher found that the average of Coded Indirect Feedback
using underlined obtained 1 00% and was categorized as all which means that all
English teachers used this types. Coded Indirect Feedback using code obtained
97,2% and was categorized as mostly used by the teacher. Un-coded Indirect
Feedback obtained 83,3% was categorized as mostly used by the teacher.
Commentary Indirect Feedback obtained 100% and it was categorized as all
which means used by all English teachers. Teachers' reasons for using indirect
feedback were to make the students fmd their own mistakes easily, to make
impressed on students' memory, to implement student-centered learning concept,
to create an active learning process, and to make the students challenged to solve
the question that given by the teacher.
