This study aimed to describe the students' skill in writing descriptive text through a
discovery learning model using images of natural beauty in grade VII of class B MTs
Maarif NU 1 Pekuncen, Banyumas Regency. It was qualitative and quantitative
research. The data in this study were the results of a test of students' skill in writing
descriptive text in each cycle. The data collection techniques were observation, tests,
and documentation. Then, the sources of data were teachers, students, and observers.
This research was conducted in two cycles. One cycle consists of four stages: action
planning, action implementation, observation/observation, and reflection. This study's
result indicated an increase in the average value of students' understanding of writing
descriptive text through the media of images and discovery learning models. The
students' average score in the first cycle was 65.89%. Meanwhile, it was 84.72% in the
second cycle (Minimum score of 71). Students' enthusiasm and motivation also
increased during the learning. They were a full sense of responsibility in completing
assignments given by the teacher.
