This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of competence and workload on employee performance and to determine whether job satisfaction is able to mediate competence and workload on the performance of employees of the Banyumas Public Work Office. The population in this study were all employees of the Department of the Banyumas Public Work Office. The sample used in this study were 100 employees using a simple random sampling. The analysis used was the Model Fit Test (F), t test, Sobel Test, and Determination Coefficient Test (R2). Based on the results of the fit test model (F) equation 1 and 2 have met the model fit test. The results of the t test research concluded;1) competence affects on employee performance 2) workload has no effect on employee performance, 3) job satisfaction Affect on employee performance, 4) competence Affect on job satisfaction, 5) workload has has no effect on job satisfaction, 6) job satisfaction is able to mediate the effect of competence on employee performance, 7) job satisfaction is cannot able to mediate the effect of workload on employee performance. The result of the coefficient of determination (R2) equation I shows the magnitude of the influence of competence, workload, on job satisfaction by 16%. In the coefficient of determination (R2) equation II test shows that the influence of competence, workload, job satisfaction on employee performance is 43,3%.
