Abstract
One of the causes of acne is caused by the growth of bacteria that cause inflammation including Staphylococcus aureus. Several studies have proven that Japanese pepaya leaves (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius Mill) have antibacterial activity against S.aureus, so gel preparations as anti-acne can be developed with the addition of japanese pepaya leaf extract ingredients as active substances preparations. This study aims to formulate Japanese pepaya leaf extract into an anti-acne gel preparation with a concentration of 10%, 20% and 30%, then observed at what concentration the preparation shows good physical stability. Evaluation of gel preparations includes organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, viscosity tests, pH tests, adhesion tests, and dispersion tests, and dosage physical stability tests. Japanese pepaya leaf ethanol extract can be formulated into a gel preparation with a carbomer base of 940 and produce good physical stability at a concentration of 20%. The anti-acne gel dosage formula with a concentration of 20% has the results of evaluating the appropriate preparation and is still within the appropriate range of the literature. With the results of the physical stability test conducted for 4 weeks get results that are in accordance with the literature.
