Abstract

Transportation is the most important means in a country. However, a high
degree of traffic safety, particulary at intersection, is a frequent source of concern.
The intersection is where the roadways converge with a variety of vehicle
movements. The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of traffic safety at the
unsignalized intersection of Jl. Jend. Soedirman and Jl. Pramuka. The Traffic
Conflict Technique (TCT) method is an observational technique employed in this
study that classifies conflicts according to their seriousness by looking at patterns
of conflict occurrence and identifying near-missed accidents. The study was
conducted in the unsignalized intersections of Jl. Jend. Soedirman and Jl. Pramuka.
This method is used to observe and analyze different types of conflicts among road
users. This technique can be used to increase the security and comfort of traffic
users and can offer suggestions for maintenance work or prevention methods on
intersections and roads. Based on the findings of the research for one day (24
hours), 39 conflict types that could occur are scattering, merging, intersecting, and
crossing conflicts. The number of conflict events should be reduced; hence conflict
controllers should take action. This is accomplished by determining the work that
needs to be done to inprove the intersection’s condition.
