This study aimed to describe the profile of the analogical thinking ability
of the students at class VIII A SMP Muhammadiyah Sokaraja. This study applied
qualitative research methods using the Miles and Huberman model including data
reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The subjects of this study were
students of class VIII A which were obtained using purposive sampling technique.
In this study, students were grouped into two categories based on gender, namely
groups of male students and female students. The three respondents of each group
were selected for interview. Data collection methods in this study used tests,
interviews, and documentation. Validation test used is technical triangulation.
Based on the results of the study, it showed that the ability of analogical thinking
in groups of male students was superior compared to female students. Groups of
male students had mastered the four stages of analogical thinking, while groups
of female students had mastered the three stages of analogical thinking namely
Inferring, Mapping, and Applying.
