The purpose of this study is to describe the types of directive speech acts contained in
the teacher's speech and to find out the character education values contained in the
teacher's directive speech at this elementary school. The data of this study are
teacher's utterances in the learning process that contain directive speech and
character education values. The data source of this research is the teacher. This is a
qualitative research that produces descriptive data in the form of written or oral
words. The presentation of data in this study uses the method of listening using
Uninvolved Conversation Observation (SBLC) technique, record technique, and notetaking
techniques to record the results of speech in the learning process. The
recording process in this study was carried out with some steps, namely (1) checking
videos containing teacher's utterances (2) recording the types of directive speech
appeared on the teacher's utterances during the learning process (3) recording the
teachers directive speech containing values of character education. The recording is
done by using stationery to get the data of the utterance. The data analysis stage in
this study uses the identical method and continued with the distributional method.
Presentation of the results of data analysis is done by describing the data in the form
of a teacher's directive speech containing the value of character education. The
results of this study show the types of directive speech acts and character education of
the first-grade teacher of SD Ciberem Sumbang District, Banyumas Regency in 2019.
