This qualitative research discussed about the code-mixing in the actors' speeches of
Gober Soup Operas episode 81 that was uploaded on Youtube in March 2020. The
study aimed to describe the types and the causes of the code-mixing contained in the
actors speeches according to language sociology.The data were collected through
observation which observed the language used in the speeches, analyzed by
distributional and identity methods, and presented by informal method. This research
concluded that (1) the types of code-mixing included words, phrases, and repetitions,
(2) the factors causing the code-mixing were role identification, variety identification,
and the willingness to explain or interpret.
