Abstract

Understanding of the curriculum which consists of syllabus, competency
standards, basic competencies, teaching resources, and procedures for preparing
printed Indonesian language learning materials is a problem for teachers at SMP
Negeri Kotip District, Cilacap Regency in teaching and learning activities.
The data of this study were obtained from the results of interviews and
questionnaires given to sixteen Indonesian teachers at the State Junior High
School, Kotip District, Cilacap Regency. One of the important components in
teaching and learning activities is teaching materials. Therefore, teachers cannot
ignore understanding in the preparation of teaching materials. Some of the
causes of this neglect are limited time, difficulty in obtaining the basics of
preparing teaching materials, and the lack of budget for the manufacture of
printed teaching materials.
In compiling teaching materials, it takes a strong will and determination as a
provision to acquire knowledge and skills in compiling teaching materials. Thus,
students will get an ideal learning process. The learning process becomes active,
innovative, creative, effective, and fun. The impression of being heavy, difficult
and boring in learning Indonesian will be overcome. This thought underlies the
research entitled "Teacher's Problems in Preparing Text Writing Teaching
Materials for Class VIII Semester 1"
