Abstract

This study discussed the classification of rude words in the youth community of online gamers. This study implemented a qualitative method with a qualitative descriptive design. Observation, interviews, and documents were utilized to collect data. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman interactive technique. The validity test employed source triangulation and data triangulation. The results showed that there were eight categories of a grouping of rude words that were inappropriate for teenagers to say, namely (i) rude words based on condition category (stupid, dead, cataracts, bastard, and ignorant); (ii) animal category (boars, dogs, and bastards); (Hi) spirit category (demons); (iv) object category (sperm, inner saliva, and shit); (v) body part category (cock, brijil, guplak, and pussy); (vi) kinship categoryfyour father); (vii) activity category (die, fuck and diancuk); (viii) occupation category (rogue). The most used rude words were in the condition category, and the least used were in the spirit category. The use of rude words contributed a negative impact on the development of attitudes and behavior of adolescents in the school and home environments.
