Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the level of teacher’s self-efficacy (hereinafter is TSE) and strategies in maintaining TSE of English teachers at Junior High School in district Losari, Brebes regency. This was a descriptive study that analyzed data using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The data for this study were collected using two instruments: a questionnaire and an interview. As respondents, 31 English teachers took part in this study. The findings revealed that the level of self-efficacy among teachers was high. It indicates that teachers are confident in their abilities as English teachers in English as a Foreign Language classes. Similarly, it belongs to the high level of each category. An interview with four teachers supplemented the findings. The strategy for maintaining TSE was feedback from the principal, developing skills and abilities, modeling and various experiences, verbal persuasion, and physiological arousal. These strategies should be maintained optimally in order to achieve the objective of learning.
