Abstract

This descriptive qualitative research described the characters' emotions and types of personality in the novel using the literature psychology approach. The data included the words, phrases, and sentences containing the characters' emotion classifications taken from the novel using reading and note-taking techniques. Then, they were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this research were: (a) the emotion of happy that included (1) being happy from receiving something unexpectedly and (2) being happy to be free from tension;(b)the emotion of sad, that included (1)being sad from losing the loved ones and (2) being sad from losing a beloved child;(c) the emotion of afraid that included (1)anxiety and (2) trauma; (d)the emotion of angry that included(1) being angry that was showed by hurting someone else and (2) being angry that was showed by threatening someone's life; (e) the emotion of embarrassed that included (1)being embarrassed about getting known to love someone and (2) being embarrassed about absurd-looking face;(f)the emotion of hate that included hating someone; (g)the emotion of love that included loving the opposite gender;(h)the emotion of jealous that included being envious; and(i) the emotion of guilty that included feeling guilty of making a mistake. Meanwhile, the characters' types of personality included introversion and extroversion.
