This descriptive qualitative research aims to describe: (1) the background of the
establishment of the Jenderal Soedirman Museum, (2) the collections in the Jenderal
Soedirman Museum, and 3) the utilization of the Jenderal Soedirman Museum as a
learning resource of history. Informants in this research were museum managers, history
teachers, vocational/high school students, and museum visitors who were selected using a
purposive sampling technique and developed using a snowball sampling technique. Data
were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews. Then the data
obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The research results
indicated that (1) the Jenderal Soedirman Museum was established because of the
initiative and historical awareness of the museum founders. They realized the importance
of the museum as a marker and means of education concerning the history of Jenderal
Soedirman's struggle as well as the history of Indonesia in the independence era. (2) there
are various collections at the Jenderal Soedirman Museum that can be used as resources
for learning history. (3) academics and the public can utilize the Jenderal Soedirman
Museum as a history learning resource by visiting the museum and participating in
educational activities.
