Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of learning Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) model on the ability of problem solving mathematics students SMP Negeri 2 Kalibagor. This research is an experimental research with Posttest Only Control Group Design. Sampling used Cluster Random Sampling by taking two classes that are class VIIA as experiment class and class VIIB as control class. Posttest result of problem solving ability of experimental class mathematics problem got average equal to 66,91 and control class equal to 55,91. After testing hypothesis with Independent Sample t Test obtained value Sig = 0.000, because Sig <0,05 then H0 rejected. This shows that students 'mathematical problem solving abilities that follow Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) learning is better than the students' mathematical problem solving abilities that follow direct learning.
