Abstract

The study aimed to determine the achievement of students ‘mathematical creative thinking ability in discovery learning with probing-prompting technique and discovery learning classes and its effect to the implementation of discovery learning with probing-prompting technique to the students’ mathematical creative thinking ability. The research design implemented was true-experimental type with post test only control design. The population covered all students of seventh grade even semester of academic year 2017/2018 SMP Negeri 3 Purwokerto with cluster random sampling technique as method to collect the sample. Seventh F role as experimental class and seventh G took as control class. The Data were collected in the form of documentation, observation, and test. The achievement of the two classes were tested by one sample t-test comparing the students’ score to Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) of 67 and to determine the effect of the discovery learning with probing-prompting technique conducted by the independent sample t-test. The research discovered that the average achievement of students’ mathematical creative thinking ability in the discovery learning with probing-prompting technique class better than KKM or 67.71% while the average achievement in the discovery learning class less than KKM or 33.33% and discovery learning with probing-prompting technique have a positive effect on the students’ ability of mathematical creative thinking for seventh grade SMP Negeri 3 Purwokerto.
