The purpose of this research is to know the effect of managerial ownership,
institutional ownership, financial distress, and stock return. The research sample
consisted of 240 observations consisting of 66 manufacturing companies listed on
the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2017-2020. The data analysis
technique used in this research is descriptive statistical test, classical assumption
test, multiple regression analysis, goodness of fit test of a model, and hypothesis
testing. The results of the analysis show that financial distress has a positive effect
on stock returns, managerial ownership has no effect on stock returns,
institutional ownership has a positive effect on stock returns, managerial
ownership has a positive effect on financial distress, institutional ownership has a
positive effect on financial distress, financial distress is unable to mediate the
effect managerial ownership on stock returns, and financial distress is unable to
mediate the effect institutional ownership on stock returns.
