Abstract
This study is entitled Implementation of the Communicative Approach in
Indonesian Language Learning at Muhammadiyah Vocational Schools in Cilacap
Regency.This study aims to (1) to describe and know the extent of teachers' general
attitudes towards communicative approach, (2) to describe and find out how far the
teacher is implementing the communicative approach, (3) to know the obstacles faced
by teachers when applying a communicative approach. This study uses a quantitative
descriptive method, which means describing the results of research based on
obtaining scores and figures related to the Communicative Approach. Data collection
techniques used were observation, questionnaires, and interviews.The sample of this
research is Muhammadiyah Vocational Schools in Cilacap Regency with a total of 6
schools, and respondents from this study are Indonesian Language Teachers.Learning
is essentially a process, namely the process of organizing, organizing the environment
around students so that it can foster and encourage students to do the learning
process. A communicative approach is an approach based on the thought that the
ability to use language in communication is an objective that must be achieved in
language learning.The results of this study are supported by using the application
SPSS 16 and Microsoft Excel and the results of this study are the results of the
questionnaire about the attitudes of teachers in the Communicative Approach reached
58,75 % have a very good attitude in the classroom, the teacher's observations have
implemented the Communicative Approach 3,5 with a very good category, and in
general, the obstacles experienced by Indonesian language teachers include finding
students who are still passive in the learning process. The communicative approach is
one approach that allows teachers to use methods and techniques to help motivate
students in developing communicative competence.
