The research entitled “The Correlation between Effective Speed of Reading and The Ability of Writing and Retelling The Content of Reading on Students of State Junior High School 12 Tasikmalaya” aims at investigating the relationship between (1) Effective speed of reading and skill of writing the content of literature, (2) Effective speed of reading and the ability of retelling the content of literature, and (3) Effective speed of reading and skill of writing and retelling the content of reading on students of nine grade at state junior high school 12 Tasikmalaya. The kind of research used by the writer was correlation study of quantitative research. The population on this investigation was the students of nine grade at state junior high school 12 Tasikmalaya. The sample used in this research number ninety students of nine grade at state junior high school 12 Tasikmalaya. The instrument used in this research was test technique. In analysing the data, the researcher used regresi sederhana test and manova test. Based on data collection and testing the data through statistic test, this research showed that (1) there was the positive relationship between effective speed of reading and skill of writing the content of literature with the percentage rhitung> rtabel, yaitu rhitung = 0,934 dan rtabel = 0,207, (2) there was the positive correlation between effective speed of reading and the ability of retelling the content of literature with the percentage rhitung> rtabel, yaitu rhitung = 0,881 dan rtabel = 0,207 (3) there was the positive relationship between effective speed of reading and skill of writing and retelling the content of reading with the value fhitung > ftabel, yaitu fhitung = 7,944 > ftabel = 4,88. For this reason, effective speed of reading has positive correlation with the ability of writing and retelling the content of reading.
