The purpose of this study was to describe the form of gender inequality contained in the Ikhtiar Cinta dari Adonara novel by J. S. Maulana using feminist approach. The data in this research were collected using reading and noting tehniques. The results of this study showed that in the Ikhtiar Cinta dari Adonara novel by J. S. Maulana contained gender inequality which was experienced by the main female character in the form of (1) marginalization, (2) subordination, (3) stereotypes, (4) violence, and (5) workload. The form of marginalization that occurred in the novel was that women were not entitled to get the inheritance. The marginalization also showed in form of restrictions on women. Furthemore, the form of subordination that occurred was that women were considered as secondary and inferior, also women did have the right to express their opinion. The stereotypes that occurred in the novel were negative labeling of being spinster, negative labeling as a ransom item, and negative labeling as infertile women. In addition, the violence that occurred took the form of rape and physical beating/attacks. Meanwhile, the workload contained in the novel was that women experienced multiple workloads and had longer working hours than wen.
