The title of this research is "An Analysis of Textbook of Bahasa Indonesia for Grade VIII of Junior High School, Revised Edition of 2017 Published by the Ministry of Education and Culture (based on the content compatibility, character building, and required competence in the 21st Century)This qualitative research aims to analyze: 1) the content compatibility of the textbook of Bahasa Indonesia (revised edition of 2017) for grade VIII of Junior High School published by the Ministry of Education and Culture; 2) the compatibility of the character building content of the textbook; 3) the compatibility of the content with the required competence of the 21st Century (4Cs) in the textbook. This research employs a content Analysis method. The source of data in this research is the Textbook of Bahasa Indonesia for Grade VIII of Junior High School, Revised Edition of 2017 Published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The instruments to collect data of the reseatresearch are the assessment sheet of content of the textbook of Bahasa Indonesia referring to the standard from the National Agency of Education Standardization (BSNP), the assessment sheet of character building content, and the assessment sheet of the required competence of the 21st Century. The data collected are displayed descriptively and analyzer using the method of data reduction, data display, conclusion, and verification. Based on the results of the research, it is found out that: 1) the aspect of content compatibility obtains average score of 99.34 with very good quality; 2) the aspect of character building obtains the average score of 92.38 with very good quality; 3) the aspect of compatibility of the content with the required competence of the 21st Century (4Cs) obtains score of 95.83 with the very good quality.
