Background Hair loss is still a problem for some people. Hair loss occurs due to lack of blood flow so that the supply of nutrients and oxygen needed for hair growth is not fulfilled. Normally, hair loss is around 80-120 strands per day, if the loss exceeds the normal level it indicates the characteristics of unhealthy hair. There is an alternative treatment of hair from natural ingredients, namely quinine. According to Tanaka 1980 Quinine can be used as a hair growth stimulant then according to Purwanti in his research using a comparison of quinine hair tonic from the Mustika Ratu that has a Quinin alkaloid which can be used as a hair growth stimulant. Method: Quinine bark powder was extracted using soxhlet with ethanol 96% as solvent then make a cream preparation with a concentration of quinine bark ethanol extract at 20%. Test the activity of hair growth stimulant using male guinea pigs for 14 days with an observation interval of 2 days. The parameters observed were hair length and hair mass, and evaluation of physical properties including organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test, spreadability test and adhesion test. Results: The evaluation results of the physical properties of the cream showed that quinine extract cream had good physical characteristics. Test results of growth activity and addition of marmot hair mass showed that there were significant differences between quinine extract cream preparations with normal controls and negative controls with a P value <0.05. Conclusion: Quinine cream preparation stimulated hair growth and addition of male guinea pig hair mass.
