Abstract

This study aims to determine the analysis results of the School Examinations test
items for the Indonesian Language subject at SMP PGRI Baturaden and to
describe the results of the reconstruction of the HOTS-based School Examination
test items for the Indonesian Language subject at SMP PGRI Baturaden. The
method used in this study was the qualitative research method. Qualitative
research is a systematic, clear, and planned research method. This study focuses
on the question quality and HOTS-based question reconstruction. The data of this
study is the school examination test package for Indonesian Language subject.
The data analysis used an interactive model consisting of data reductions, data
presentations, and drawing conclusions and verifications. The data result
presentation model is presented in formal and informal ways. The results of this
study are in the form of 1) analysis results of the quality of the school examination
test question instrument for Indonesian Language subject as seen from the aspect
of HOTS content quality analysis of the school examination test questions for
Indonesian Language subject consisting of cognitive level 1, cognitive level 2 and
cognitive level 3. Based on the qualitative analysis results of the school
examination test items which were carried out in the form of multiple-choice and
essay review formats, as well as a review of the HOTS questions in the form of
multiple-choice and essay, in terms of material, construction, and language, there
were imperfections in the material being tested which was not in accordance with
competence, lack of homogeneous and logical answer choices, how the subject
matter was not formulated briefly, clearly, and firmly, how the subject matter
provided hints to the answer keys, how they did not follow proper Indonesian
language rules, and the characteristics of HOTS questions namely the questions
did not use an interesting, new, or contextual stimuli, the questions did not
measure the cognitive level of reasoning (analyze, evaluate, create), and the
questions did not use implied answers to the stimuli.
