This study aimed to determine the role of parents to support the students in
remote learning of grade IV SD / MI students. This is descriptive qualitative
research. This research was conducted at SD N Kaliwadas 01, from November to
January 2020. The data sources used primary data obtained from interviews with
teachers, parents and students, while the secondary data in the form of
documentation. A purposive sampling technique was used to select informants.
Data analysis used in this research was interactive analysis model from Miles and
Huberman consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and
conclusion drawing. The results of this study regarding the role of parents to
support the student in remote learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, there were
several problems encountered, such as the students' low comprehension to the
material which required the parents to study material beyond their expertise, the
limited facilities especially the internet data, and parents' educational
background. While the role of parents to support remote learning consisted of
directing students to learn well, restricting students from playing with gadgets,
and providing facilities.
