Abstract

This study aimed to describe the strategies of teachers, parents, and students in carrying out the teaching and learning Sciences on class IV during the Covid-19 pandemic at SD Negeri 4 Bandingan, Banjarnegara Regency. This is descriptive qualitative research. Observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation were used in the data collection. The results showed that the teacher's strategy in the science teaching-learning process in the fourth grade during the Covid-19 pandemic was in the form of independent learning strategies. Teaching and learning was carried out by implementing remote learning (Learn from home) through a weekly program where students got assignments to do at home for one week. The teacher used a student-centered learning strategy in the weekly program, employing the inquiry learning paradigm, speaking, and assigning homework. Teaching and learning were carried out via multimedia devices as well as techniques and tactics, such as the use of practical videos. Teachers cited the inability to directly monitor or manage students, a lack of multimedia device ownership among students, and restricted internet access as problems. The presence of parents during the teaching and learning process was considered as the solution to the problems. Parents knew better the situation during the teaching and learning process at home, so the parents hold a bigger role to monitor and control their children. The parents who could not provide cellphone to access the assignment given via Whatsapp might do the assignment at school and submitted directly.
