Abstract

The research entitled An Analysis of Apperception Types by EFLTeachers was aimed at finding out the types of apperception in English classes and the purposes of implementing it. The subject of this study was 3 English teachers in SMP N 1 Padamara. The researcher used a qualitative method. The researcher used an interview and questionnaire as a instruments for collecting the data. The researcher found 7 of 9 types of apperception used by the teachers. They are apperception using pictures/images, apperception using a video, apperception using a song, gap filling activity, simple word list, web education, and mind mapping. The teachers’ reasons for using types of apperception were to initiate students’ imagination, reduce students nervousness, measure students material prior understanding, and to help students organize data and information they get during learning process. The researcher also found that the 7 types of apperception make the teachers find easiness to teach and help the students understand. The teachers assumed that the types of apperception are effective to start the learning process.
