Background : Skin cancer is a condition in which the growth of skin cells is not controlled and caused by exposure to free radicals of ultraviolet (UV) light. Ants nest plant (Myrmecodia beccari Hook.f) can potentially prevent the harmful effects of free radicals from UV rays on the skin because it contains phenolic compounds in the form of antioxidants. This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of ethanol extract of ant nest tubers (Myrmecodia beccari Hook.f) on physsical properties and antioxidant and sunscreen activity in cream preparations. Method : Extraction was carried out by maceration method using 70% ethanol as solvent. Measurement ot the IC50 value of antioxidant activity using the DPPH method and determination of the value of sunscreen activity using the UV-Vis spectrophotometer method. Results : The difference in concentration of ethanol extract of ant nest tubers increased pH, viscosity, and cream stickiness. The cream formula o/w ethanol extract of ant nest tubers was stable during the cycling test. The results of the measurement of antioxidant cream are potetially weak an the sunscreen activity of cream preparations has minimal potential. Conclusion : The difference in concentration of ethanol extract of ant nest tubers affects the physical properties of cream preparations due to certain factors, cream preparations of ant nest tuber ethanol extract have antioxidant activity with weak potential and have minimal potential sunscreen activity due to certain factors.
