Abstract

This study purposed to know what teachers’ perceptions on teaching reading comprehension using two stay two stray technique. This study used a descriptive research with survey method, the data was taken from questionnaire and interview. The subjects were English Teachers in Sokaraja junior high schools both private and state school. From 47 English teachers, eight were chosen as the respondents that matches the criteria and seven as the interviewees. Those teachers had experience on teaching reading comprehension using two stay two stray technique as the criteria. One of those teachers did not want to be interviewed. The questionnaire was made to find out teachers’ perception related to the advantages and disadvantages of two stay two stray technique in reading comprehension. By looking on the 11 statements in the questionnaire, there were 8 favorable statements and 3 unfavorable statements. There were also 8 positive perceptions and 3 neutral perceptions. Based on the result of mean score of questionnaire from all statements, it showed that English teachers’ perception was positive (3.49) on teaching reading comprehension using two stay two stray technique.
