Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Junior High School in Purwokerto is an Islamic-based formal school which is committed to developing values of character education through habituation that is gradual, programmed, and consistent. The success in creating graduates having strong character is reflected in the school‟s vision, namely “Menjadi sekolah teladan dan terdepan yang menghasilkan lulusan berakhlak mulia, berprestasi tinggi, berjiwa kepemimpinan, dan berbudaya lingkungan” (Becoming a model and leading school that provides graduates who own virtous character, excellent achievement, leadership spirit, and environmental culture). These efforts are supported by a well programmed management which includes character education management in schools. The purpose of this study is to comprehend the character education management at Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Junior High School.
This research is a field research using a qualitative approach; and the analysis employs descriptive- reflective thinking. Data collection techniques were carried out by conducting interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification.
Based on the analysis, it can be seen that the management of character education for students at Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Junior High School is carried out by applying a humanist philosophical approach, which is manifested through integrated activities within the framework of intracurricular, extracurricular, and cocurricular activities.
